Travelling to Kaza

Kaza is well connected to both Shimla and Manali. On the way to Shimla, the nearest main city or town is Rekong Peo. It is about 200 kms away from Kaza. The roads are in good condition. One can travel from Rekong Peo to Kaza through Himachal roadways bus service, Tempo travellers both from Shimla and Rekong Peo, shared cabs and private cabs.

The road from Manali side is not in good condition, bus service is not available, travellers keen to have adventure road trip use to ride bikes and private vehicles, the cars with good ground clearance are better to ride. Tempo travellers and cabs are also available.

Best time to visit Spiti

The best time to visit the valley is between May to October. During this period the temperature is moderate and travelling is easy. But it is located at a high altitude and the summers of the region are cold enough for travellers visiting. So, it is strongly recommended to carry as many woollens as you can. During winters due to heavy snowfall in the region maximum temperature during the day falls below zero degrees. During November and December the min. temperature falls to -15 to -20 degrees. All the roads remain closed during winters and a major part of the valley remains cut off from the rest of the world.
